In the present commercial method, deoxygenation is directly applied to vegetable oils through liquid phase hydrotreatment. This method is expensive because it requires the use of problematic sulfided catalysts and high pressure of hydrogen and requires severe operating conditions. The objective of this study was to produce alkane biohydrocarbons, particularly jet fuel that can be considered to be drop-in replacements for petroleum-based jet fuel components, by catalytic thermal decarboxylation of Mg-Zn basic soap. Specifically, this study investigated the decarboxylation of the basic soap at mild operating conditions without external supply of hydrogen. The Mg-Zn basic soap (9/1 mol ratio of Mg/Zn) was derived from fatty acid methyl esters C12/C16 of palm kernel oil and decarboxylated for 3 hours at atmospheric pressure and temperatures between 250 to 350 oC. The basic soap effectively decarboxylated yielding a jet fuel-type biohydrocarbons, with a liquid product yield of 42,94%-weight. The resulting hydrocarbon product is a complex mixture consisting of normal paraffins in the range of carbon chain length C8 - C20, iso- and cyclo-paraffins and the various olefin products. This study deals with the finite element analysis of the monotonic flexural behavior of HPFRC plates. Following the assumptions of the development plate theory, the finite element idealization of HPFRC plates can be accomplished by 2-dimensional plane stress isoparametric element or by Mindlin plate element. The aim of this research is to develop methods of finite element modeling of flexural behavior which occurred at HPFRC plates subjected to monotonic loading using two different methods of element idealization which accordance to the laboratory testing result. The analysis is done by decreasing the stiffness of plate elements gradually in accordance with the development of maximum stress in the element due to workload. Correlation studies between analytical and experimental results are conducted with the objective to establish the validity of the proposed models and identify the significance of various effects on the response of HPFRC plates element. Flexural analysis conducted on plate specimens with 600 mm span length, 300 mm width, and 50 mm thickness. HPFRC compressive strength is 93.045 MPa, and splitting tensile strength is 6.018 MPa. Test performed with four points bending pattern at a distance of 1/3 span length. Comparison results of analysis and laboratory test can be concluded that the flexural behavior of plate HPFRC can be described more satisfactorily through finite element analysis using 2D-isoparametric plate element with minimum element size. However, if a significant number of elements is added in the calculation method of Mindlin plate, then the overall result of the analysis will be closer to the experimental results. Production of sawn timber is very efficient because it can reduce; reuse and recycling. Two species of wood that could be developed is sengon and coconut wood. The problem is that sengon wood have not an adequate mechanical performance. On the other hand, coconut wood has a good mechanical properties, but the heavy weight becoming an obstacle. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the performance of them. The improvement is achieved by a mix-glulam system that will be produced a lightweight structural timber beams. This research was conducted through a three and four point bending test according to ASTM:D 198 – 02. The coconut wood was placed as the outer zone of glulam. The beams size is 55mm in width, 155 mm in depth and 1740 mm in span. As a control parameter used the mechanic behavior of clear specimen as initial strength. The experimental results showed that the mix-glulam system can increase the flexure strength and stiffness by 6.1% and 8.4% respectively. In addition, the lamination process could be to improve the flexure strength and modulus of elasticity sengon-wood by 8.4% and 26% respectively. On the other hand the lamination process causes a decrease in ductility of 14%, so the glulam beams failure that occurred tend to be more brittle. In terms of structural efficiency, mix glulam has a level much better than concrete and almost equivalent to steel. To increase bond-slip interaction between surface of bamboo reinforcement and concrete has been done using coating treatments with water-resistant material, the addition of hooks, wire rope wrapping, and others. With the treatments, concrete beams with bamboo reinforcement able to increase capacity, but the pattern still shows slip failure. The aim of this research is to improve bond-slip interaction between bamboo reinforcement and concrete to reform the flexural behavior pattern of concrete beam using a hose clamp. This research used bamboo petung (Dendrocalamus asper) 2-3 years. Dimension of bamboo reinforcement is 15 mm x 15 mm. Dimension of concrete beam is 120 mm x 200 mm x 2100 mm, with percentage of tensile reinforcement (ρ) about 4.68% and compression reinforcement (ρ ') about 1.875%. Shear strength reinforcement using steel bar with diametre of 6 mm. Four beam specimens casted with four different treatment, i.e: normal reinforcement, reinforcement with hose clamp, reinforcement with water-resistant coating, and reinforcement with water-resistant coating and hose clamp. Beam tests performed using four-point load. The test results showed flexural capacity, ductility, and stiffness of the beam with bamboo reinforcement which coated by water-resistant material and hose clamp has increased compared to the other beam. All beams shows crack and collapse by slip failure, but beams with bamboo reinforcement which were coated by water-resistant materials and hose clamp has many spread crack before it collapses
Muhtar Muhtar, Sri Murni Dewi, Wisnumurti ., As’ad Munawir Copyright (c) 2017 IMC 2016 Proceedings https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/IMC/article/view/1207 Sat, 29 Apr 2017 00:00:00 +0000 BOND CAPACITY IN PIPE AND GROUTING CONNECTION https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/IMC/article/view/1208 One of the requirements that must be met in the design of reinforced concrete construction is to achieve a perfect bonding between reinforcement and concrete. A perfect bonding ensured a composite action between reinforcement and concrete. The Implementation of the precast construction method leads to a mechanism that is not a monolith between steel and concrete. This condition can affect the lack of coherence which can lead to slip. In this study, the 30 concrete cylinders in 150 x 300 mm are used as pull out test specimens. On each specimen grown mounted on a steel reinforced sleeve pipe. In the sleeve pipe is inserted grouting material. Specified variables are the length of embedded, grouting thickness, and surface roughness of the sleeve pipe. The results of the study showed that the length of embedded of reinforcement a strong effect on the bond capacity. In undefined reinforcement, failure occurs due to slip between the reinforcement with a layer of grouting. While the grouting thickness and roughness together a strong effect on the bond capacity. The best results are given by specimens that grouting reinforcement with a layer thickness of 35 mm with a rough surface of the sleeve. Failure happens to resemble a failure on deformed steel reinforcement which is embedded directly in the concrete, reinforcing steel that is breaking up after passing the yield stress limit and the ultimate stress. This essay aims to seek the composing aspects of home-like quality in third place based on at-homeness theory with literature and case study as methods. The case study was done in Hema Resto Kemang Pratama in Bekasi City through defamiliarization and interviews. The result shows that home-like was composed from the interactions between individuals, the choosing of interior elements and object placements that resemble a typical housing. The case study shows that the interiority plays a bigger role in composing the home-like quality in a third place than an individual interaction. This may be led by people’s preference of places-for-things. Increasing the concentration of the additive yields to high the compressive-strength and shear-bond-strength value. Comparing each objective of this study is to observe the effectiveness of the nanocomposite additives in enhancing the cement strength in oil well cementing job. A well cementation job is a crucial aspect in oil well productivity and sustainability. An oil well with good quality of cementation can prolong its durability in production stage. Moreover, it will reduce the well repair cost and efficiently decrease the workover-job frequency. Cement slurry should be enriched by additives to improve its properties and escalate the bonding. Through this experimental study, two nanocomposite, nanosilica-coconut shell waste with palm shell and nanosilica-palm shell waste, have been introduced. Either coconut shell and palm shell should be in chracoal form before making the nanocomposite additive. The investigation is focused on the Shear-Bond-Strength and Compressive-Strength parameters, two parameters which reflects the quality of the cement bond. Those parameters are obtained from biaxial loading test. Before conducting the test, various samples of cement with different concentration of the nanocomposite additives should be prepared for mixing, drying and hardening processes. Result from the test have indicated that both of the nanocomposite from the Coconut sample with different additive shows its unique efficacy of the additive. Additive from the palm-shell has positively grown the compressive-strength while the other dominant in shear-bond-strength improvement. Another exciting interest reveals from this study is both coconut shell and palm shell waste, which is an abundant resource in Indonesia, can be developed to produce a product with its higher economic value. This process of organization consistently applies to the higher meso- and macroscopic scales of ordering and thus governing the materials properties. Self-assembly can be rationally designed and is a practical strategy to build a nanostructure. This review discusses the effect of various manners of self-assembly due to various degrees of interactions between nanoparticle fillers and polymer matrix in enhancing nanocomposites properties, especially the barrier properties, and in particular fire retardancy. The assembly of three-dimensional structures of polyurethanes, for instance, is governed by microphase separation due to hydrogen bonding (10-65 kJ mol-1 of strength) within the hard phases of polyurethane foams (~10 nm of size). The microphase separation is influenced by the existence of nanoparticle fillers in the nanocomposites, to the extent that they may become either nucleation sites and catalysts for cell growth and coalescence, physical hindrance to hydrogen bonding and microphase separation, or perhaps somewhere in between. In the case of flexible polyether-urethane/layered-silicate nanocomposite, it was clearly observed that the presence of a molecular scale ingredient brings about an additional rule of assembly to the reacting mixture, resulting in a relatively better organized structure. Therefore, in order to engineer and control fire retardancy and other barrier properties of nanocomposite materials, the nature and mechanism of their self-assembly in the presence of nanoparticle fillers needs to be well understood. The widely used corrosion inhibitors are alkaline metal and alkaline earth metal salts of sulphonic acids. One of their weakness is that the metal substance is non degradable. Therefore studies of the production of vegetable oil-based inhibitors containing sulphonic acid are needed. Epoxidized methyl esters that contain sulphonates behave as corrosion inhibitor. The purpose of this research is to analyze the reaction between Epoxidized rice bran oil methyl ester (ERME) and Linear alkylbenzene sulphonic acid (LABSA). The method used was mixing ERME with LABSA for 4 hours, then heating the mixture up to 40°C. The process variable is weight ratio of ERME : LABSA = 1 : 1.1 ; 1 : 1.2 ; 1 : 1.3 and the response variable was oxirane oxygen. The identification was conducted using FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra Red). The equation obtained is y = -43200x + 31,147 with R² = 0,9868, where x is weight ratio of ERME : LABSA and y is oxirane oxygen. The result of this research shows that the best weight ratio of ERME : LABSA 1:1,3 with oxirane oxygen of 0,5%. FTIR test result indicates the presence of hydroxyl groups and sulphonic acids. Actually, in previous research, the prognostics consists of three steps; namely building normal condition model, estimating degradation state, and predicting future condition as well as assessing remaining useful life of the machine. At the first step, the prognostics method has to identify whether a system or a machine is in good condition or not based on current condition. In other words, a normal condition model must be build first. This paper has been proposed two techniques according to the approach of normal condition modeling. These techniques may support developing of a prognostics method based on grey model. Result shows that prediction performance of both techniques is satisfying by root-mean square error (RMSE) and linear correlation (R) values. Although there is little different in result among the proposed methods, experiment and other research, the prediction performance is enough satisfying. However, using the both approach in a prognostics application may give the best result. For validating the proposed method, data from low methane compressor used in petrochemical industry was employ. The data contains information of machine history with respect to time sequence. The assessment in this study includes the systematic process of collecting data and information on the development of fine motor skills in pre-writing readiness possessed by students, the obstacles or difficulties, and the current individual learning needs. In conducting the assessment, the researchers at first designed an assessment instrument by developing available points of fine motor aspects of pre-writing readiness. Then, the instrument became a reference in the implementation of the assessment. The purpose of the research is to arrange an assessment to be a reference that helps teachers, education practitioners, students and parents knowing the fine motor skills of students, finding resistance and aspects that cause students not to be able to write, and finding valuable information to create a learning program. Based on the results of an experiment conducted in TK MustikaLembang (Mustika kindergarten), it was found that there were two children who had pre-writing skill problems. The results of the experiment are expected to be a reference for teachers and schools in preparing a learning program for children. Education seems to be a promising way to help patients knowing their disease and then develop health behavior to maintain adherence toward hemodialysis treatments regiment although other studies mentioned that education have to combine with other strategic to support adherence behavior improvement among patients undergoing hemodialysis. Better understanding best approach could use to improve adherence especially fluid adherence is necessary in order to minimize the negative effect due to fluid overload. The present review aims to identify trials of intervention applied to improve adherence to fluid intake restrictions imposed on people undergoing hemodialysis. A systematic search of the literature was performed on EBSCHO, PUBMED, OVID, and Cochrane Database of Systematic Review. Study quality was graded according to criteria develop by the authors.Three studies were identified as eligible for inclusion. Relevant information from each included study was extracted and entered into a standardized table, all studies showed an effect of intervention to decrease IDWG. A number of method weaknesses in the existing literature were identified. The results show that multifocal strategic (education, cognitive, and behavioral) have significance effect in reducing IDWG between among patient undergoing hemodialysis. The effectiveness of interventions ranges from moderate to large effect size. This is indicating intervention effectiveness. However, confidence regarding to validity of this finding was susceptibility to bias due to limitation of study. Accordingly, even though those interventions seems likely appropriate and effective to improve fluid adherence, further examination toward effectiveness in more long term evaluation have to considered. Frequency of visits ANC is part of health services which is deterrent occurrence of neonatal death if pregnant mothers are advised to follow all the antenatal care, ie a visit ANC ≥ 4 times during the three trimesters of pregnancy. This research uses cross-sectional design using multiple logistic regression analysis. This research indicate that the cause of neonatal death is the frequency of visits ANC, parity, pregnancy complications, birth weight infants, early neonatal examination. There is interaction between the frequency of visits ANC with birth weight infants that mother who did not make a visit ANC or <4 times during her pregnancy and having babies with birth weight ≥ 2500 gram had 2,6 times greater chance for the occurrence of neonatal death compared with mothers who did visit ANC ≥ 4 times during her pregnancy. This is due to neonatal mortality in infants with birth weight ≥ 2500 gram mostly infants with birth weight > 4000 gram who are at high risk for the occurrence of neonatal death,so expect to do further research on neonatal mortality to infant weight> 4000 gram. And related to the frequency of visits ANC, expected from the government to make policies more firmly on the obligations of pregnant women for pregnancy check at least 4 times in the third trimester during pregnancy. Endometrial stem cells are mainly located in the basal layer, but could also be successfully isolated from the functional layer, which is shed during menstruation. Menstrual blood-derived stem cells (MenSCs) can be obtained by noninvasive procedures. They are characterized by high proliferative potential, long-term culturing properties, mesenchymal stem cell-like marker expression and multilineage differentiation potential. MenSCs have been successfully employed as therapeutics in animal models of myocardial infarction, stroke, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and critical limb ischemia. Their allogenic application is not associated with immunological side effects, and does not promote tumor formation in vivo. Pilot studies have confirmed their safety upon applications in humans, and phase 1/2 clinical studies on their safety and therapeutic efficacy are ongoing. A systematic banking of immunoprofiled MenSCs will expand the therapeutic repertoire beyond autologous stem cell transplantations.
Nurjanah Achmad Copyright (c) 2017 IMC 2016 Proceedings https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/IMC/article/view/1259 Sat, 29 Apr 2017 00:00:00 +0000 EVALUATION OF BONE SCAN INDEX CHANGE OVER TIME ON AUTOMATED CALCULATION IN BONE SCINTIGRAPHY https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/IMC/article/view/1260 Objective, bone scintigraphy (bone scan) is useful in detecting metastatic bone lesions through visual assessment of hot spots. A semi quantitative analysis method that evaluates bone scan images has been eagerly anticipated. BONENAVI is software that enables automatic assessment of bone scan index (BSI). BSI is useful for stratifying cancer patients and monitoring their therapeutic response. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of BONENAVI in determining BSI and hot spots at different time intervals after radioisotope injection. Methods, we evaluated 32 patients, including 22 males and 10 females. Ten patients had breast cancer, 20 patients had prostate cancer, and 2 had malignant phaeochromocytoma. Patients were injected with 20 mCi of 99mTc-methylene diphosphonate (99mTc-MDP) and bone scintigraphy was performed at 2, 4, and 6 hours after injection on each patient. The BSI and the number of hot spots were obtained from BONENAVI software. Bone scan images were also visually assessed to exclude false positives due to artifacts. Analyses were performed in all lesions, selected true lesions, segment-based and cancer-type-based. Non-parametric statistical analyses for pairwise multiple group comparison were performed using Friedman test followed with post-hoc analysis. Results, the BSIs and the number of hot spots were significantly increased with time, with significant differences between each of time points (P< 0.001). Analysis of regional BSI (rBSI) and hot spot number changes of selected 15 true lesions also showed similar increase (P<0.001). In general, the pelvic segment was the most prone to rBSI changes and the chest segment was the most prone to hot spot number changes. Visual assessment showed that BONENAVI diagnosed some typical artifacts as metastases (hot spots). Conclusion, BONENAVI reading of BSIs and hot spot numbers was highly affected by acquisitiontime. In serial or follow-up examinations (in particular, for monitoring therapeutic efficacy), acquisition time should be fixed for each patient. Cautious interpretation should be made on segments with high physiological uptake. BONENAVI reading was prone to misinterpretation of artifacts. Visual assessment is necessary to rule out this possibility. This can be inferred from the grades of the students in Linear Algebra Course. Almost all of students got E in linear algebra. Some students not motivated in the explanation of the lecture and they not followed the learning process. The learning process is still centered on the teacher, so the students seem waiting the lecture from the teacher. Therefore, we conduct Classroom Action Research in the Linear Program course to the class of 2013 to improve students’ motivation. The Classroom Action Research use guided discovery method assisted Software LINDO. Linear program is a mathematical method of allocating scarce resources to achieve a single goal such as maximizing profits or minimizing cost. Guided discovery method is a development method of Pieget Constructvism theory, that is a learning that emphasizes the importance of students sctivities who are active in constructing his knowledge. In general, software LINDO will provide direct experience for students to formulate, solve and verify a valid formula based on the solution method. In our result, There is an increase 2.82% on students motivation from Cycle I (69.46%) to Cycle II(72.28%), and there is an increase 2.83% from Cycle II (72.28%) to Cycle III (75.11%). The students’ motivation in Linear program course has reached 75.11% using this approach. Moreover, the percentage of students’ interest of the approach assisted Software LINDO is 93.75%. Pragmatics shows how using a language is not solely mean applying the system of that language. Pragmatics claims that people should deliver the language appropriately based on the context so that the intended meaning will be correctly conveyed. Pragmatic competence is aimed to achieve successful interactions between non-native speakers (NNs) and native speakers (NS) of a particular target language. The learners who are incompetent in pragmatics will suffer pragmatic failure. Pragmatic failure occurs as the consequence of different rules and norms of different cultures of the languages. This paper descriptively describes how teaching supposed to contribute in the settings of crosscultural pragmatics instruction in order to lead the learners to avoid mistakes in understanding pragmatics concepts. This is a literature study in which the writers used various printed sources as their major data including the research results of previous studies. There are several suggestions proposed by the scholars in order to minimize the L2 learners’ pragmatic failure, i.e. providing clear instruction related to cross-cultural differences, increasing learners’ target cultural knowledge, and increasing communicative strategies used by the students. Besides, in order to raise learners’ pragmatic awareness, the instruction of the teachers can be done by designing language course aimed to let the learners achieve communicative competence, planning course materials related to pragmatics, and choosing activities that useful for pragmatic development and rasing the leaners’ pragmatic awareness. The regency of Bekasi, which is very strategic due to its direct shared border with Jakarta, in addition of the land area that is still very vast, has made Bekasi as the target of residential and industrial development, especially in the southern area of Bekasi. The needs of housing from the workers in the eastern area of Jakarta and Bekasi as well as the price of the land that is still cheap, has made the northern region of Bekasi as the favorite option for housing. This has encouraged the conversion of land use from farming land into housing areas that is uncontrollable. It examines the thesis of fading sectarian politics (politik aliran, sectarian identity-based politics) in Indonesia (Liddle and Mujani, 2004; Hamayotsu, 2012) in the midst of growing oligarchy (Hadiz and Robison, 2005; and Winters, 2011) which led to rationalism and pragmatism in electoral politics, in contrast to sectarian politics. Qualitative methodology was employed by using in-depth interviews with local elite Muslim politicians in South Kalimantan. Perceptions and motives on power, political transactional cost, coalition formation, and sharia law were elaborated and analyzed. This research argues that the political Islam adapted to the changing landscape of the electoral politics, both in elite and mass level. In disagreement with other research which concluded that the political Islam plays important role in a ‘religious-democracy’ in Indonesia (Tanuwidjaja, 2010), this paper argues that they adjusted their vision and strategy to make the most in the electoral politics in the changing context. Islamic norms and culture, are interpreted in harmony with nationalism and democracy, not particularly distinctive and exclusive. Islamic symbols and networks are considered advantages during election campaign and mobilization, although the Muslim politicians are pragmatic when it comes to electability, popularity, and political transaction in coalition formation and policy making.
Meidi Kosandi Copyright (c) 2017 IMC 2016 Proceedings https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/IMC/article/view/1308 Sat, 29 Apr 2017 00:00:00 +0000 PATEN DEVELOPMENT BASED ON GENDER in CIBINONG SUB DISTRICT BOGOR https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/IMC/article/view/1310
Background Problems, Indonesia has not qualified public services, 6,180 complaints to the Ombudsman; Community complained of extortion in DLLAJ Bogor, Bekasi, Cibinong. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection procedures depth interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). Research conducted at the Faculty of Human Ecology, Bogor Agricultural University, with FGD and in-depth interviews on IPB post graduate students. Result indicates that the PSAs are not able to change the behavior directly to a person to quit smoking. However, PSAs became starting point to change behavior. Furthermore, PSAs able to build awareness of target audiences about the detrimental effects of smoking, thus stimulating the target audience to quit someday (aroused interest to take action to stop smoking). Early habit of smoking is caused primarily by environmental factors (the influence of friends), and no smoking was caused by the attitude (personal consciousness). Using qualitative method and library data analysis and look at similar cases in Brazil and Chile as comparative cases, this article finds that in the outset of reformasi, the political opportunity to promote democratic principles in the security sectors is widely open . This was due to strong efforts made civil society to create consensus with political elites in abandoning the authoritarian legacy in the security forces. However due to the weakening enthusiasm of CSOs, the absence of shared vision between CSOs and political elites and the poor political will of the decision makers in the executive and legislative branch, the political oppertinuty to continue security sector reform diminishes.
