E-cigarettes pose significant health risks, especially for adolescents whose brains are still developing. Nicotine and various other hazardous chemicals are contained in e-cigarettes that can threaten the health of friends. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the factors that impact children's behavior towards the using electronic cigarettes and the impact of Electronic cigarettes on health. The methodology used for this investigation was a literature review. The literature used in this study uses 2 electronic databases, namely Google Scholar and PubMed. The time span of the journals used was the last 5 years. This research was carried out between March and April 2025 and published in "open access" journals in Indonesian and English. The main keywords in the source search were e-cigarettes, factor analysis, and adolescents. Articles were referred to inclusion criteria that were relevant to the topic. The analysis's findings revealed that there were two types of factors that influenced vaping: internal and external. Knowledge, beliefs, and gender are examples of internal factors; peers, parental support, and accessibility of e-cigarettes are examples of external factors. Excessive nicotine intake from vaping can result in nicotine poisoning, which is evident as headaches, nausea, and heart palpitations. Although many students believe that vaping is a safer option than smoking, vaping has a number of adverse impact on health, such as increased risk of addiction, depression, lung cancer as well as further respiratory issues. In conclusion, smoking not just tampers with the respiratory system, but also increases the chances of lung disease in young children.
Nabila Fitri Ramadhani; Rizky Akaputra, Andriyani Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/MJE/article/view/27020 Thu, 24 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Building PPE Compliance Through Strengthening Knowledge and Attitudes: An Empirical Study and Construction Workers https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/MJE/article/view/27009
The purpose of this study is to find out and examine variables related to cobstruction workers’ compliance with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This study aims to identify factors that influence vaping and its impact on the quality of life of adolescents. Based on the Lentera Survey (2015), 45% of adolescents in Indonesia aged 13-19 years have smoked. In this era, cigarettes can also kill more than 1 billion people if there is no effort to reduce it. The method used is a literature review of 15 scientific articles obtained from the Google Scholar and PubMed databases throughout 2010-2025. The results of the study showed that vaping was influenced by curiosity, peer invitations, social media promotions, trends, and the belief that vaping (electronic cigarettes) is safer than conventional cigarettes. All of this shows that there are health standards that are followed in the adolescent community. Based on the conclusions of 15 literature reviews, it was found that the average behavior that drives e-cigarette users (vape) in the lifestyle of generation z is influenced by several factors, namely. First, peer influence. Second, following worldly trends that make generation z curious. Third, the influence of the social environment. Fourth, Gen z feels that consuming e- cigarettes is more economical than conventional cigarettes.
Fadiel Ramadhan; Riky Akaputri, Andriyani Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/MJE/article/view/27001 Thu, 24 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Factors Related to Safety Riding Behavior in Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/MJE/article/view/26996
Safety riding among online motorcycle taxi (ojek online) drivers is critically important as it involves the
lives of the drivers themselves, their passengers, and other road users. In general, most online motorcycle
taxi drivers have complied with safety riding regulations. This study employed a literature review method
by examining research journals from several databases using specific keywords and criteria within the last
five years (2020–2025). The search yielded 15 journals related to riding safety among online motorcycle
taxi drivers. The journals reviewed were scientific health journals registered with ISSN, sourced from
databases such as Google Scholar, DOAJ, and ResearchGate. The results of the literature review indicate
that the factors contributing to accidents are influenced by a lack of concentration and the pressure to meet
daily income targets. These conditions encourage online motorcycle taxi drivers to take greater risks while
riding, thereby increasing the potential for accidents.
Muhammad Sopyan Atsaury ; Suherman Jaksa , Irna Hasanah Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/MJE/article/view/26996 Thu, 24 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Knowledge And Attitude Factors As Determinants Of Compliance With The Use Of PPE In Construction Workers: An Empirical Study https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/MJE/article/view/27021
Accidents in the construction industry are among the largest compared to other industries, largely due to non-compliance with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This study seeks to examine aspects of knowledge and attitudes that affect compliance with the use of personal protective equipment among construction workers. The methodology used is quantitative, utilizing analytical survey techniques. Samples are deliberately collected from personnel involved in specific building projects. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and processed through chi-square statistical tests and logistic regression. The results showed a substantial correlation between workers' knowledge and attitudes and their adherence to PPE use. Employees who have extensive knowledge and a favorable attitude are often more compliant in utilizing personal protective equipment than those with limited information and detrimental attitudes. As a result, increasing knowledge and fostering a positive attitude through occupational safety training is essential to increase compliance with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ikhsan Arif Adilla; Andriyani, Triana Srisantyorini Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/MJE/article/view/27021 Thu, 24 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0000 The Impact of Environmental Noise on Hearing Health https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/MJE/article/view/27010
The sound produced by a vibrating sound source is an undesirable sound and can disrupt human comfort and health.Noise, defined as undesired sound that can disturb or negatively affect health, poses a serious occupational hazard. Long-term exposure to high noise levels at work is frequently linked to auditory impairments like noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). This problem has been made worse worldwide by the continuous industrialization processes and a lack of public awareness about the harmful effects of noise. An estimated one-third of people worldwide are thought to be impacted by noise-related disruptions. Knowing the prevalence of NIHL is crucial because it is one of the main preventable causes of disability. One of the main risks to employees' auditory health in industrial settings is noise exposure. The purpose of this review of the literature is to compile the results of numerous investigations into the effects of occupational noise on hearing health, established exposure thresholds, and practical preventative strategies. According to the review, extended exposure to noise levels higher than 85 dB(A) can cause tinnitus, fatigue, elevated stress levels, and permanent hearing loss. Therefore, to lessen the negative effects of noise exposure, it is imperative to implement hearing protection equipment and efficient workplace noise management techniques. Based on 15 literature reviews, it was determined that workplace noise has an impact on hearing health for a number of reasons: excessive noise levels can harm hearing, employees' ignorance of noise hazards raises the risk of hearing disorders, management can lessen adverse effects, and the use of hearing protection equipment is frequently disregarded even though it is essential.
Rizki Hashym; Triana Srisantyorini, Irna Hasanah Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/MJE/article/view/27010 Thu, 24 Jul 2025 00:00:00 +0000 This Adolescent Behavior Towards Electronic Cigarettes: The Role of Knowledge, Social Support, and Risk Perception on Health Impacts https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/MJE/article/view/27003
This tobacco contains harmful substances that can cause lung disease, but the use of e-cigarettes in adolescents continues to increase. The purpose of this study was to assess the factors and health effects that affect the behavior of young people when using e-cigarettes. The literature was obtained from Google Scholars, PubMed, and ScienceDirect, and has inclusion standards in the form of publications from 2019-2024 with a focus on youth in developing countries. We analyzed up to 15 articles with exclusion criteria such as replication, unrelated and inaccessible literature. Results show that adolescents' behavior is influenced by internal factors such as knowledge, confidence, and gender, as well as external factors such as parental support, peers, and accessibility. The misconception is that e- cigarettes are safer than traditional cigarettes. Health effects include asthma, shortness of breath, chronic cough, shortness of breath, breast pain, and assessment (e-cigarettes or vapor-related lung injuries).
