This journal is a national journal containing agricultural research results, routinely published by the <a href="https://ftanumj.ac.id/">Faculty of Agriculture - University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta</a> since 2016 (printed and online).</p> <p style="font-size: 16px; text-align: justify;">The <a href="https://jurnal.umj.ac.id/index.php/ftan/management/settings/context//index.php/ftan/index">Jurnal AGROSAINS dan TEKNOLOGI</a> invites lecturers, researchers, reviewers, practitioners, industry, and observers and Undergraduate/Master/Doctoral students, to submit their papers or scientific articles on topics such as Crop Production; Plant breeding; Plant physiology; Plant ecology; Agricultural biotechnology; Seed technology and production; Control of weeds, pests, and plant diseases; Horticulture, Plantation crops, and Agribusiness. Incoming papers will be reviewed in a peer-reviewed manner. <p><em>The Sustainable Food Home Garden Program (P2L) is a strategic initiative to optimize the utilization of home gardens as a source of family food and to improve food security through community empowerment. This research aims to analyze the relationship between member participation, resources, and member motivation with the effectiveness of the Sustainable Food Home Garden Program (P2L). The research was conducted using a quantitative descriptive method, with a saturated sample of 55 members from KWT Rukun Makmur and KWT Tani Segar. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires with a Likert scale and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman's rank correlation. Results show that member participation has a moderately strong and significant positive relationship with program effectiveness (correlation coefficient 0.317, significance 0.018), while resources (correlation coefficient 0.220, significance 0.107) and member motivation (correlation coefficient 0.090, significance 0.512) only show very weak and non-significant positive relationships. The low correlation between motivation and program effectiveness is due to KWT members' motivation being mostly external, such as production facilities assistance, rather than internal drive to achieve family food self-sufficiency</em></p>Sephia MaharaniMubarokahRisqi Firdaus Setiawan

<p><em>Rice is a staple food for Indonesian society, making the factors influencing rice purchasing decisions crucial in marketing. This study aims to analyze the influence of price, product quality, brand image, and packaging on the purchasing decision of BULOG SPHP rice in Surabaya. The research employs a quantitative approach with a non-probability sampling method, specifically accidental sampling, involving 90 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the SEM-PLS technique with SmartPLS 4 software. The results indicate that price, product quality, and packaging have a positive and significant influence on purchasing decisions, whereas brand image does not have a significant impact. Stable and affordable pricing is the primary factor influencing consumer decisions, followed by good product quality and attractive, functional packaging. These findings suggest that marketing strategies focusing on price, quality, and packaging are more effective in increasing consumer interest in BULOG SPHP rice.</em></p>Renita Dwi LestariSri WidayantiPrasmita Dian Wijayati

<p>Rice farming plays an important role in supporting food security and the farmers' economy. However, the amount of transaction costs that arise during farming and marketing activities is an obstacle that can reduce farmers' income. This study aims to identify the form and type of transaction costs and analyze the effect of marketing channels on farmers' income through transaction costs as an intervening variable. This study uses a quantitative approach with sampling techniques using probability sampling using proportional random sampling and obtained 61 rice farmers in Wilayut Village, Sukodono District, Sidoarjo Regency as respondents. The results showed that marketing channels had a positive and significant effect on transaction costs, while transaction costs had a negative and significant effect on farmers' income. Transaction costs incurred by farmers include input procurement, labor sourcing, farmer group meetings, and selling costs such as transportation, information, and negotiation. The average total transaction costs incurred reached IDR 296,676/ha/season. These results indicate that selecting efficient marketing channels can reduce the burden of transaction costs and contribute to increasing farm income.</p>Desita Syafa KurniasariNuriah YuliatiMirza Andrian Syah

<p><em>GlacéCo is a company engaged in gelato production that strives to maintain product quality while setting competitive prices in accordance with consumer preferences and market conditions. This study aims to examine the influence of product quality and price on consumers’ purchase intention toward GlacéCo gelato. The method used is Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS), with primary data collected through questionnaires and interviews. The research sample consisted of 50 respondents selected using purposive sampling, a type of non-probability sampling. The results show that product quality and price have a positive and significant effect on consumers’ purchase intention. <p><em><span style="font-weight: 400;">Rice (Oryza sativa L.) plays a vital role in ensuring food security, particularly in Indonesia, where it serves as the main dietary staple. This research aimed to evaluate how different planting distances and varying doses of liquid organic fertilizer influence the growth and productivity of the Inpari IR Nutri Zinc rice variety. It also explored the possible interaction between these two factors. The study was carried out from May to August 2022 in Kapu Hamlet, Sama Guna Village, Tanjung District, North Lombok. A Randomized Block Design (RBD) was employed, involving two variables: planting distance (20x20 cm, 20x25 cm, and 25x25 cm) and fertilizer dosage (10 ml/l, 20 ml/l, and 30 ml/l). Results revealed that planting distance had a significant impact on several growth indicators such as leaf count, number of tillers, panicle length, and grain weight per clump. The 25x25 cm spacing (J3) consistently yielded the most favorable outcomes across all metrics. Conversely, the application of liquid organic fertilizer at the tested doses had no notable effect on growth or yield. Additionally, no meaningful interaction was observed between planting distance and fertilizer dosage. <p><em>Brazilian spinach (Alternanthera sissoo) is one of the vegetables introduced to several Southeast Asian countries, such as Indonesia. There are few scientific references on the optimal dose of fertilizer use, especially compound chemical fertilizers like NPK, on the growth of Brazilian spinach. This study aims to examine the effect of different doses of NPK on the growth of Brazilian spinach. The study was conducted from October 20, 2024, to January 24, 2025, in the researcher's home field located in Buaran Village, Serpong District, South Tangerang City. The research used a randomized block design (RBD) with 5 levels of NPK doses, namely 0 kg/hectare, 100 kg/hectare, 200 kg/hectare, 300 kg/hectare, and 400 kg/hectare. Each treatment level was repeated 5 times, and each experimental unit had 3 sample plants. The results showed that the tested doses of NPK compound fertilizers did not significantly affect all the observed growth variables of Brazilian spinach, which included the time of shoot emergence, number of shoots, number of leaves, leaf width, root length, root weight, consumption weight, and gross weight. The use of a planting medium mixture of soil, rice husk charcoal, and cow manure in a 1:1:1 ratio can support the growth of Brazilian spinach without the need for additional inorganic fertilization.</em></p>Ade SumiahadiMuhammad Rafi Wahyu Putra

<p><em>The increase in yields in tomato cultivation in Indonesia is due to the limited availability of superior varieties that can grow well and produce high production and quality.</em> <em>An effective method to increase tomato yield and quality is through the development of new tomato plant cultivars. Plant introduction is a process of moving plants from one area to another. Plant introduction is a process of moving plants from one area to another. This study aims to study the agronomic characteristics of four tomato plant varieties. This research was conducted at the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta, from June to December 2023.</em> <em>Research using two introduced tomato plant varieties and two commercial national tomato varieties as a comparison of the introduced tomato varieties is expected to be an additional genetic diversity and tomato plant varieties that can be used as ready-to-distribute varieties or genetic sources for tomato plant breeding programs. The results of the study showed that in general the two introduced genotypes had qualitative characteristics that were different from the two comparison varieties. <p><em>Celery offers a distinctive flavor to culinary dishes and has biopharmaceutical potential in addressing various health issues. Efforts to obtain high-quality celery in terms of appearance and content continue to be made to meet human needs. The objective of the study is to determine the morphological and physiological responses of celery plants to shade treatment and mung bean sprout extract. The experimental design used a completely randomized design with 2 factors, namely the provision of shade (without shade, 65% shade, 75% shade, and 85% shade) and the provision of bean sprout extract (without bean sprout extract, 10% bean sprout extract, and 30% bean sprout extract). Each treatment was repeated 3 times. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance and Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (5%). Results indicated that 85% shading combined with 30% mung bean sprout extract yielded the highest stomatal density. The same extract concentration also produced the highest chlorophyll a and total content. <p> </p> <p>Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi memiliki potensi genotipe padi lokal yang dapat dikembangkan, baik menjadi sumber plasma nutfah maupun bahan perbaikan sifat. Perlu karakterisasi tampilan generatif dari genotipe lokal tersebut. Tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk mengetahui karakterisasi tampilan generatif dari genotipe padi lokal asal Kuantan Singingi. Metode penelitian dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap faktorial digunakan pada penelitian ini diulang 3 kali dan masing-masing plot terdiri dari 3 sampel. Faktor G = Genotipe padi lokal, terdiri : A (Beras kuning umur panjang), B (Beras singgam putih), C (Beras samo putiah), D (Pulut kari), E (Beras limbayang) dan F (Beras kuning). Faktor P = Kombinasi Pupuk, terdiri : P1 = 0 + 100, P2 = 25 + 75, P3 = 50 + 50, P4 = 75 + 25 dan P5 = 100 + 0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan umur keluar malai (hst) tercepat terdapat pada genotipe beras kuning (96,80 hari setelah tanam). Bobot gabah kering giling yang terberat pada genotipe beras samo putiah dan P1 = 0 + 100 (Tanpa pupuk organik + Urea 300, SP-36 100 kg/ha, KCl 100 kg/ha) 105,00 gram. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jumlah anakan produktif per rumpun, total jumlah anakan per rumpun, bobot gabah kering giling per rumpun berpengaruh nyata secara interaksi antara perlakuan kombinasi dosis pupuk dengan perlakuan genotipe padi lokal.
