PEMBELAJARAN INTRODUCTION TO LINGUISTICS MELALUI VLOG

Abstract


Penulisan artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan video blog yang sering dikenal dengan ‘vlog’ dalam mata kuliah Introduction to Linguistics. Penulisan artikel dilatarbelakangi oleh ketertarikan untuk mengekspos salah satu bentuk kreatifitas mahasiswa dalam meng-upload materi ajar yang telah diberikan melalui vlog ke situs berbagi video, Youtube. Dari video yang telah mereka upload tersebut, para mahasiswa mendapatkan kesempatan untuk mengeksplor kemampuan linguistik mereka baik pada keterampilan berbicara maupun menulis. Data dikumpulkan melalui vlog entry, online reflection, dan wawancara semi terstruktur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan vlog efektif dalam mengembangkan pemahaman siswa terkait linguistik serta motivasi belajar merekapun meningkat. Temuan juga mengindikasikan bahwa vlog mampu meningkatkan kreatifitas mahasiswa di luar kelas dan mereka juga memperoleh feedback dari mahasiswa lain melalui vlog yang diunggah. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan vlog dalam pembelajaran Introduction to Linguistics dapat digunakan secara efektif dalam memahami konsep-konsep linguistik.
