Author Guidelines

NALARs Architectural Journal, receive scientific manuscripts of scientists / academics and practitioners in architecture or related, could be a result of research, and case studies, as well as new innovations that have never been published.

Architectural Journal of NALARs presents articles based on architectural research in micro, mezo and macro. Published articles cover all subjects as follow: architectural behaviour, space and place, traditional architecture, digital architecture, urban planning and urban design, building technology and building science.

Architectural Journal of NALARs invites all lecturers, academic staffs, researchers, reviewers and related field to architecture to contribute in the publication by sending and submitting articles based on research. All submitted articles will be reviewed by peer-review board. After the process of review completed, all the result will be informed to author through Open Journal System (OJS) as well as email to author.
 

Periodic journal published every semester, in January and July.

Scientific manuscripts should be written in Indonesian is good and right. Authors agree to transfer copyright of the Faculty of Engineering UMJ, if and when the manuscript is accepted and published.
    

Manuscripts will not be loaded, if it contains an element of racial, political, commercial, excessive subjectivity, protrusion of someone who is praised or degrading.
Script / writing complete should contain:
        
Title
        
The author's name (without a title) and email address
        
Name of institution or institution where the writer activity

Title of the article is written using Arial font size 11, capitalized, bold, centered, consisting of maximum of 15 words and describing the content of the script. Full name of the author written using Arial font size 10 with no any title.

The correspondence address is written completely below the author's name including the name of institution, address of the institution, telephone number and email address. Title of the article, name of the authors and institution written in centered alignment. Between title and author’s name is double spaces (10 pt) apart and between authors’ name and the name of institution is single space (10 pt). The script presented in a narrative (without numbering in front subtitles) and avoid writing in the form of subtitles.

Abstract is written in Bahasa Indonesia and English using Arial font size 10, single space and with a maximum 250 words. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia written with standard grammar with the enhanced spelling. Avoid abbreviations and mathematical formula in the text of abstract. Abstract describes briefly about background of the problems, objectives, methodologies, and conclusions. The complete sentences at least contains subject and predicate elements. In passive sentences writing, subject and predicate must be clear, not ambiguous with words of object.

Abstract is written with the format of column. Keywords are written under abstract text, arranged alphabetically and separated by semicolons. Keywords are written in regular format with Arial font size 10.

The margin of contents page are 3 cm at top and left side, 2 cm at right and below. The header distance from the edge of the paper is 0.5 inch and the footer distance from the edge of the paper is 0.5 inch. Articles typed in MS Word program with Arial font typeface size of 10 pt, single spacing and in a two-column format (column = 2.98 inch width and spacing column = 0.5 inch). Each article consists of 10-12 pages (including figures and tables) and written justified. Distance between paragraphs using single spacing.

Figures and tables are placed in clusters of text and annotated with caption. Caption placed bellow the corresponding figure, and the title of tables placed at the top of the table. The caption of figures and the title of tables are numbered sequentially. The figures must be guaranteed can be printed clearly even though it is reduced to 50%. Figures or schematic diagrams should be placed between text groups. Figure is not framed. Tables displayed without vertical lines, whereas the horizontal lines shows only 3 main lines that is 2 horizontal lines at the top and bellow the title of each table column, and 1 closing line after the bottom row.

Notation List written in alphabetical order. Latin letters are written first, followed by an Arabic letter.

Citation writing from a script or literature using the Harvard system. The source of the literature information consists only the name of the authors and the year of publication. Example: Usaha-usaha untuk mencari sistem penyimpanan panas yang lebih baik telah banyak dilakukan, diantaranya adalah menggunakan panas laten peleburan dari PCM (Yanadoro dan Matsuda, 2006 for one or two authors; Sutrisno dkk., 2011; Smith et al., 2011 for more than two authors). According to Sanyono (2010), ………etc.

The list of bibliography is sorted in the order of which the reference is referred to the article and numbered with bracket numbering [1], [2], etc. the author’s name in the bibliography written in rules of the last name followed by the first name after separated by a comma. The title of the referenced book is written using Arial font size 10, bold, italic, and underlined. All literatures referenced in the script should be listed in the bibliography. Preferred bibliography is an article taken from recent scientific publication/journal maximum 5 years prior to paper submission. Referral writing guide: last name (surname) and year (Wijayanti, 2007).

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
