Dalam mendesain suatu bangunan terdapat beberapa aspek elemen yang harus diperhatikan dan dipertimbangkan seperti aspek pengomptimalan penghawaan, pengoptimalan pencahayaan, pengoptimalan vegetasi, penggunaan penghalang radiasi matahari, dan penataan area hijau. Pada saat lima elemen ini disatukan ke dalam desain akan menciptakan kenyamanan dan dapat menghasilkan kesehatan fisik serta mental, tentunya itu adalah dampak positif penerapan terhadap bangunan. Dengan menyatukan elemen tersebut, bangunan juga dapat menghemat energi dan ramah terhadap lingkungan. Pada saat ini lahan menjadi semakin sedikit dan mahal ditemui di daerah perkotaan. Solusi dari masalah ini adalah membuat perumahan vertikal. Penelitian ini membahas penerapan elemen arsitektur ekologi terhadap hunian vertical. Dengan adanya penelitian ini, diharapkan untuk dapat membangun bangunan dengan prinsip ekologi arsitektur sebagai acuan terutama kepada lima elemen ini.
