About the Journal
FOCUS AND SCOPE
The focus and scope of Misykat al-Anwar Jurnal Kajian Islam dan Masyarakat are specific to Islamic studies. However, considering the vast scholarship of Islamic studies, this journal provides limitations within the following areas:
- Islamic Studies (Dirasat Islamiyah), particularly on the scope of Islamic Education (Tarbiyah), Islamic Economics and Law (Syariah), and Islamic Communication and Broadcasting (Dakwah);
- Islamic studies discussed in the journal must be research conducted on the community and its dynamics, whether in the past, present, or future;
- The society studied is the Islamic community, particularly in Indonesia, but open to studies conducted in the broader Islamic world (Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the West).
OPEN ACCESS POLICY
Misykat al-Anwar Jurnal Kajian Islam dan Masyarakat is committed to an open-access policy. This means that all research findings published in the journal are freely accessible to the public, enabling the exchange of information and data without restrictions. The purpose of this policy is to ensure wider dissemination of knowledge and to support the improvement of future research outcomes.
All manuscripts published in Misykat al-Anwar Jurnal Kajian Islam dan Masyarakat are available to the public under the terms of the CC-BY-NC-SA (Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike) license. This license allows anyone to copy, cite, and adapt the published works, provided that proper credit is given to the original author(s), the material is not used for commercial purposes, and any derivative works are distributed under the same license.
PUBLICATION ETHICS
Misykat al-Anwar Jurnal Kajian Islam dan Masyarakat is a national peer-reviewed journal. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior expected of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, editor-in-chief, managing editors, editorial board, peer reviewers, and the publisher (Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta). This statement is based on the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
ETHICAL GUIDELINES FOR JOURNAL PUBLICATION
The publication of articles in Misykat al-Anwar Jurnal Kajian Islam dan Masyarakat, which are peer-reviewed, is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected body of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the authors’ work and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles uphold and embody the scientific method. Therefore, it is important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in publishing: authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and society.
The Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta, Indonesia, as the publisher of Misykat al-Anwar Jurnal Kajian Islam dan Masyarakat, takes its responsibilities of guardianship over all stages of publishing very seriously and recognizes its ethical and other responsibilities. The publisher is committed to ensuring that advertising, reprints, or any other commercial revenue do not affect or influence editorial decisions. All submitted manuscripts will be screened using plagiarism detection tools to ensure that submitted works are original and properly cited.
PUBLICATION DECISIONS
The editors of Misykat al-Anwar Jurnal Kajian Islam dan Masyarakat are responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published. The validation of the work in question and its relevance to researchers and readers must always guide such decisions. Editors may be guided by the policies of the editorial board and constrained by legal requirements in force regarding issues such as libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Editors may also consult with other editors or reviewers when making decisions.
FAIR PLAY
Editors evaluate manuscripts at all times based on their intellectual content without regard to the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy.
CONFIDENTIALITY
The editor and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.
CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the express written consent of the author.
EDITORS RESPONSIBILITIES
Editors should strive to be leaders in their respective fields of practice that support the content of the journal, thereby contributing to the journal’s development, visibility, and standing in the international community. Editors must also familiarize themselves with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines. Editors are responsible for making final decisions regarding which articles are accepted or rejected for publication.
REVIEWERS RESPONSIBILITIES
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists editors in making editorial decisions and, through editorial communication with authors, may also help authors improve their manuscripts.
Promptness
Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript, or who knows that a timely review will be impossible, should notify the editor and excuse themselves from the review process.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.
Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument has been previously reported should be accompanied by the appropriate citation. Reviewers should also notify the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the papers.

Misykat al-Anwar Jurnal Kajian Islam dan Masyarakat is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta. The journal is accredited by the Ministry of Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Sinta 5). The focus and scope of the journal cover Islamic studies, particularly Tarbiyah (Islamic education), Dakwah (Islamic communication), and Syariah (Islamic law and economics), with emphasis on the study of Muslim communities in Indonesia and the broader Islamic world. Established in 1992, the journal aims to disseminate research findings and scholarly works written by academics and researchers from both Indonesia and abroad.

FEES
There is no Article Processing Charge (APC) for accepted papers. All published articles are freely accessible to readers worldwide with broad visibility and coverage.
JOURNAL HISTORY
Misykat al-Anwar Jurnal Kajian Islam dan Masyarakat was first published in print under the name Misykatul Anwar in 2002 by the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta. It was registered with LIPI under ISSN 0854-6460 on May 29, 2007.
In 2016, Misykatul Anwar adopted the Open Journal System (OJS), obtained an online ISSN (2502-2970) from LIPI on January 1, 2016, and changed its name to Misykat al-Anwar: Jurnal Pembelajaran Islam. The adoption of OJS was carried out as part of the National Journal Accreditation (Arjuna) program.
In 2018, Misykat al-Anwar: Jurnal Pembelajaran Islam was accredited as Sinta 5 by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia. In the same year, the journal changed its name to Misykat al-Anwar Jurnal Kajian Islam dan Masyarakat, joined CrossRef, and set its path toward higher accreditation (Sinta 1) and Scopus indexing.
In 2020, the journal officially adopted its current name, Misykat al-Anwar Jurnal Kajian Islam dan Masyarakat, and obtained ISSN 2715-6931 from LIPI.
