PENGARUH DUOLINGO TERHADAP PENGUASAAN KOSAKATA BAHASA INGGRIS KELAS 5

ABSTRACT The researcher’s interest in this study began with observations regarding students' difficulties in remembering English vocabulary. This study aims to analyze the impact of using Duolingo on English vocabulary mastery and the role of the Duolingo application in vocabulary acquisition among fifth-grade students at MIN 1 Bandar Lampung. The originality of this study is found in the application of the Duolingo app for mastering vocabulary. This research employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design. The chosen design for this study is the Post-Test Only Control Group Design. The findings reveal that the average pretest scores of students were 50 for class A and 43 for class C before the intervention. Following the treatment, the posttest scores rose to an average of 86 for class A and 83 for class C. Based on these results, it can be concluded that all students in classes A and C effectively mastered English vocabulary. Therefore, the Duolingo application has been proven to be highly effective in English language learning, especially in vocabulary acquisition.Keywords: Duolingo, English, Vocabulary. ABSTRAK Peneliti tertarik untuk melakukan penelitian ini berdasarkan observasi terhadap kesulitan siswa dalam mengingat kosakata bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan aplikasi Duolingo terhadap penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris dan peran aplikasi tersebut dalam meningkatkan kemampuan kosakata siswa kelas V di MIN 1 Bandar Lampung. Fokus utama penelitian ini terletak pada penggunaan aplikasi Duolingo sebagai alat untuk memperbaiki penguasaan kosakata. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian kuasi eksperimen, khususnya Post-Test Only Control Group Design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata pretes sebelum perlakuan adalah 50 untuk kelas A dan 43 untuk kelas C, sedangkan setelah perlakuan, nilai rata-rata posttes meningkat menjadi 86 untuk kelas A dan 83 untuk kelas C. Berdasarkan uji tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa semua siswa di kelas A dan C berhasil menguasai kosakata bahasa Inggris. Dengan demikian, aplikasi Duolingo terbukti efektif dalam membantu siswa menguasai kosakata bahasa Inggris. Kata kunci: Duolingo, Bahasa Inggris, KosaKataDownloads
