PENGARUH JENIS ADSORBEN TERHADAP EFEKTIFITAS PENURUNAN KADAR TIMBAL LIMBAH CAIR RECYCLE AKI BEKAS

Abstract


Pengolahan air limbah Aki bekas dilakukan karena menghasilkan timbal (Pb) sebagai polutan beracun terutama jika memasuki perairan sebagai air baku air minum. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendapatkan pengaruh jenis adsorben (zeolit dan karbon aktif) dan konsentrasinya (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, dan 25%) terhadap penurunan kandungan Pb dalam air limbah dari proses daur ulang aki mobil bekas. Pembuatan sampel imitasi air limbah dilakukan dengan perendaman komponen aki mobil bekas, seperti pelat dan larutan asam, dalam 4 liter air selama 10 hari yang menghasilkan kadar awal Pb sebesar 8,02 mg/L dan pH sebesar 2. Adsorben diaktivasi dengan perlakuan kimia dan fisika, kemudian ditambahkan ke dalam sampel limbah sebanyak 100ml, lalu diaduk dengan kecepatan 150 rpm selama 1 jam. Volume NaOH 0,5 M yang dibutuhkan untuk menetralkan 10 ml sampel limbah yaitu 35,7 ml. Kadar Pb terendah dalam sampel limbah adalah 0,239mg/L yang diperoleh pada adsorpsi menggunakan adsorben karbon aktif 25%.
