KAJIAN KONSEP ARSITEKTUR BRUTALISME PADA BANGUNAN PENDIDIKAN UNIVERSITAS ANDALAS

Abstrak

Kajian ini meneliti penerapan prinsip-prinsip gaya arsitektur brutalisme pada bangunan Universitas Andalas. Brutalisme merupakan gaya arsitektur yang dikenalkan pasca perang dunia ke 2 yang artinya beton brut. Sehingga gaya brutalisme sering diidentifikasikan sebagai bangunan dengan material beton. Bangunan pendidikan yang diteliti merupakan bangunan universitas yang dilakukan untuk menyelenggarakan kegiatan pendidikan akademik. Prinsip-prinsip gaya brutalisme dijadikan sebagai alat penelitian yaitu bentuk bangunan geometris, material bangunan asli “jujur”, tekstur bangunan kasar, modular grid pada struktur, dan fungsi bangunan efektif. Prinsip-prinsip brutalisme dapat dikaji dari material bangunan, fasad bangunan, massa bangunan dan ruang-ruang dalam bangunan. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan yaitu penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bangunan Universitas Andalas menerapkan prinsip-prinsip brutalisme berbentuk geometris seperti bentuk persegi dan segitiga, permainan bentuk geometris, material bangunan beton asli,tekstur bangunan kasar, bangunan anti ornamen, modular grid pada struktur bangunan, mengekspose struktur bangunan serta pemanfaatan fungsi bangunan efektif.  Berdasarkan kajian ini disimpulkan bahwa bangunan Universitas Andalas menerapkan gaya arsitektur brutalisme berdasarkan analisis.Kata Kunci: Brutalisme, Universitas Andalas
