Pendidikan merupakan hal yang sangat penting bagi keberlangsungan penerus bangsa, banyak pendidikan mulai dari SD, SMP, SMA/SMK, Perguruan Tinggi dan Pesantren. Dari semua jenjang pendidikan yang ada hanya beberapa yang menerapkan metode boarding school. Boarding school merupakan sekolah berasrama yang memiliki ke unggulan dalam pendidikan oleh karena itu banyak tokoh-tokoh besar yang lahir dari sekolah berasrama. Untuk menujuang pendidikan perlunya wadah dalam menampung kegiatan belajar mengajar yang dapat diakses oleh siapapun tanpa terkecuali baik itu difabel dan lansia. Berangkat dari isu tersebut konsep desain universal menjadi jawaban untuk membuat bangunan atau kawasan yang dapat diterima oleh semua oarang. Konsep yang memiliki tujuh prinsip. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan memahami penerapan konsep desain universal pada bangunan boarding school. Metode penelitian menggunakan deskriftif kualitatif dengan menggunakan studi kasus boarding school. Kesimpulan yang didapat daristudi kasus, studi kasus menerapakn konsep desain universal. Dari hasil itu maka disimpulkan bahwa konsep universal dapat diterapkan pada bangunan boarding school.
